Halcyon Days

Let’s face it, the prospect of skydiving from 15,000 feet or bungy jumping from any height whatsoever isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. The diverse nature of Queenstown however means it can be enjoyed for its natural beauty and serenity first and foremost as opposed to the adrenaline fuelled experiences it is often solely associated with.

Incredible bike trails, walking tracks and scenic lookouts are only a stone’s throw away from The Rees Hotel and are in absolute abundance. Any exertion involved with the activities in question are well worth the toil, just take a look for yourself:

Queenstown Hill: An easy 2.5 hour hike offering views across the Queenstown township, Lake Wakatipu as well as The Remarkables and Walter and Cecil Peaks.

Ben Lomond: A slightly more taxing 6-8 hour return hike but when you are rewarded with this view it all makes sense.

Wye Creek: Slightly out of town and around the other side of the Remarkables Mountain range; the viewing platform an hour up the track offers unparalleled views across southern stretch of Lake Wakatipu.

Roy's Peak: A tough 4-6 hour return hike in the neighboring town of Wanaka. Concluding this hike with a glass of world class Pinot Noir at the infamous Rippon winery is highly recommended.

Arrowtown Trail: Not a fan of hiking? We offer full and half day bike hire here at The Rees and with snow capped mountain views to die for you'd be a fool not to go for a ride.

In a similar fashion, this view out towards Jack's Point is accessible via the Lake Wakatipu bike track which itself is accessible via The Rees Hotel Walkway. Once you round the Peninsula at Kelvin Heights you're greeted by pristine lake waters and rolling mountains.

We're full of great ideas here at The Rees and the to top it all off we've been out there and experienced it for ourselves to give you the best advice possible.
